Stop and smell the river
As an entrepreneur I am very busy (aren’t we all) and so I find really creative ways to spend my time. When I commute to the office in New York I travel either by train or by boat. Living in Jersey City has its privileges! Today, it was such a beautiful crisp morning that I decided to take the boat.

Now, Jersey City is only separated from Manhattan by 2 miles. So the ride on the boat is pretty quick. Perhaps 15-20 minutes, and that’s because we stop at another station to pick up more passengers. Today while I was on the boat I was doing some brainstorming. I had my dictionary in hand, a notebook, and was busily writing down every fleeting thought that came to mind for a new project I’m working on.
Then… it dawned on me…. “You’re on a boat, chica! You have Manhattan’s skyline on your right and New Jersey’s on your left. It’s a beautiful, crisp fall day and your head is buried in a book!” — I looked up from my notebook and thought… why am I letting this pass me by?
So I put the books away, sat back and enjoyed the view. I still had about 8 minutes of that view to absorb and I just soaked it all in. The waves crashing. The wind blowing. Watching as the buildings grew stronger and stronger. It was the perfect start to a Friday morning.
As you go about your business remember to take a moment and soak in the moments that we’re actually working so hard for. Those beautiful moments with nature, friends and family. Don’t let your life pass you by as you’re trying to set it up. Enjoy the day!
