Keys to mapping out a successful new year
I just had to share this with you. My friend/colleague/ace compadre Jodi joined me a couple of weeks ago at the office and we mapped out everything we’d like to do an implement for the new year.
Jodi and I have both been part of some amazing programs and workshops and events and masterminds… to the tune of TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars and we realized something at an event recently…
WE KNOW WHAT TO DO… we just need to map it out and get it done.
With our combined resources and knowledge we holed ourselves up with hot apple cider from Le Pain Quotidien (I’m vegan, she’s gluten free, it’s gourmet) and we printed out an army of papers and calendars and went at it with post it notes and highlighters until we could see a clear and profitable path for our new year.
It was amazing! So much so that we’ve developed a private (just us) program that rivals what we’ve previously broken the bank for.
If you’re anything like us… you don’t need another coaching program. You don’t need another info product. You don’t need more events or more knowledge… you just need to take what you already have in pocket and implement it darling. So, there were some key things that we looked at, where we had holes in our business that we need to plug in going into the new year.
Now granted, we have “some things” in place, but your support needs to move and adjust at your rate of growth. Sometimes your growth happens so quickly, or unexpectedly, that you don’t update and refine your systems in sync to it. So, hopefully, the systems we’re working on refining below will give you some insight into what you want to tighten up for your brand too. Let me know what triggers you get in the comments below, ok?
1) Operations Manual – Both Jodi and I have a “some what” system for doing things, but nothing that is massively documented in order to bring on new staff and support. With the tasks we mapped out for December we’ll be able to bring in new support seamlessly.
2) A Speaking/Event Site – So I do a fair amount of speaking, and Jodi does even more. We both have a portion of our site dedicated to media stuff like this. Fortunately, because we know our stuff (Jodi’s the founder of BravoWellness.com) we get booked nationally for free and a fee. We want more of that “fee” segment, and higher rates. We’re focusing on this early in the year. Oh yeah, exciting.
3) Follow up – Yeah, big, big huge one. This one area is where the majority of my focus will be for the rest of the year and moving into the new year. I’m digging my heels into my community like never before. Yeah… it’s getting really personal!
4) Tracking – So I’m a big numbers girl. I like watching stuff like website visits, referrals, social media growth, revenue increments and the like… I have a schedule to analyze this stuff and it falls off track OFTEN. I use a spreadsheet from my Bankable Branding bootcamp so I have no excuse! I will procrastinate no more. Gonna watch my numbers like a hawk so they can soar! It’s gonna be on fire.
So that’s our focus for now. Can your business use some refinement in the systems we targeted above? If not, which ones came to mind for you? I’d love for you to share so that we all can benefit!
Great post! I completely resonate with all 4 points. Funny enough I help my clients create processes in their business and I need refine my own and develop support staff. I am look at 2013 as the ‘Year of Abundance’!
